What is a branded domain?
A branded domain, especially in URL shortening platforms like TinyURL, lets you swap out the standard shortener's domain (such as tinyurl.com) for one that matches your own brand—like example.com or blog.example.com. This setup creates more polished, recognizable short links that boost trust and click-through rates by tying directly into your identity, rather than looking generic. To get started, you can either buy a new domain through the service or point an existing one to it, then use it when generating shortened URLs.
TinyURL's Branded Domain feature lets you customize your TinyURL links, helping boost brand recognition and build customer trust.
With any of our paid plans, you’ll have three options to customize your links through Branded Domains.
-
Purchase Your Own Domain: If you don’t already own a domain, you can register for one directly through your TinyURL account. Domains are billed annually and can be renewed each year. When subscribed to a paid plan, you can simply register an available domain closest to your brand—and we’ll handle the setup for you.
-
Bring Your Own Domain: If you already own a domain that isn’t linked to a website or blog, you can register it in your TinyURL account and use it exclusively for link shortening.
-
Bring Your Own Subdomain: If your domain already hosts a website, it can’t point to two webhosts at once. Instead, we recommend creating a subdomain (e.g., subdomain.example.com) for TinyURL, or purchasing a new domain dedicated to shortening links.
Note: The Bring Your Own Domain option allows you to register a domain or subdomain in your TinyURL account for link shortening purposes only.
